PV loop is now an even 30 miles. Wednesday's ride was in a torrential downpour. Raining heavily on Roscoe Blvd. Today's was the polar opposite. Cloudless sky, warm.
Legs feeling great.
Two more rides will put me over 3,000 miles on the Mity 8.

Pounding Rain
A real flood for the past couple of days, so off the bike. But that's no matter because...
Real advances on the new pannier. The model went well yesterday. Will be sewing up some nylon soon.
The bike is running well.

The Mity 8 Rides Again
So the Cateye Mity 8 is back onboard. Had it off for a few weeks during the bike changeover. Used it this morning for the first time on the Troll. Seems to be functioning like its old self. Found a bare spot on the wire while installing it, so wrapped it with electrical tape.
The 26-mile Palm Valley loop today. All well. Approaching 3,000 miles on the Mity 8. 10,000 in the next twelve months? No way. 5,000? Probably. 7,500? Maybe.

A Reason to Celebrate
Another first post in a while.
Some serious changes around here.
The new bike is...on the ground! Now has about 120 miles on it. See my other blog at www.buildingatroll.blogspot.com for the bike as it came together.
I just installed the Mity 8 on the Troll today and will begin keeping mileage as before. Am approaching 3,000 miles since last spring. Not a lot, but it's a start.
The new ride feels great. Shimano 3x10-speed drivetrain is right on with the right-on. Avid BB7 disc brakes, too. All is smooth and running well. I carry a good handful of tools just in case, but so far, so good.
Will do a mini-trip at the end of this moth when the term ends. Down to Lake Ida and back (180 miles), fully loaded.
Also beginning to mess with new pannier design. Now have a working model (built yesterday), ans will order some lexan tomorrow for the prototype. Hopefully will have them together by June and will field test them through the summer and beyond. If all goes well, they will carry my gear on the long ride next year. If all goes better than well, Thule will buy my design and I'll become rich and famous and get my own Wikipedia entry.

First Post in a While
It's early February. Looks like we're not going to have a real winter this year. Very warm for this season.
We're approaching 3,000 miles on the old Mity 8. Rides are going well, though a little hit or miss recently.
Still gathering parts for the new ride. Frame and forks by..?..April? Rolling by June? Let's hope.

Northwesterly Mayport Friday
25 miles Friday to the northwest. Tailwind coming home. Clear skies, chilly, windy. Out along the river to Mayport. Back over the Wonderwood Bridge and then Girvin Road. Beautiful.

Back to Summer
Warm and overcast today. PV loop. Summer weight shorts and jersey. Nice. Hooked up with another rider coming home. 24mph pace through Ponte Vedra. No probelmo. New wheels are killer.
